Session: Skateboarding Demo Thoughts and Kickstarter Info
It took just four days for this new Kickstarter to get backed and that just shows you that many gamers out there are craving for a new skateboarding game. What up gamers and welcome to this new preview session of a skateboarding simulator called Session which will be coming out to the Xbox One and Steam Marketplace.
“Inspired by the golden era of skateboarding, the early 90s and early 2000, Session’s primary goal is to make you experience what skateboarding really is; an incredible sport where there are no other goals other than expressing your creativity and achieving success through hard work, perseverance and bits of madness for no one else other than yourself.”
This actually makes me happy to hear someone passionate about skateboarding and the added bonus of being a boarder. It takes me back to the old days of the Pro Skating era where skating games were good and fluid. How this acts as a simulator has me intrigued.
It seems they are going to play with using the analog sticks to represent your feet. In that, you can train yourself to quickly execute moves by shifting the analog sticks in a certain direction. They encourage gamers to think about how you would use your feet on a board or transfer your weight. Now this might be a problem for those that don’t board like myself, so I am hoping there will be a training area to understand what they are trying to have us translate with our fingers.
Balance and Scoring:
Yes, there is a demo you can download to test it out for yourself which is why I am here right now talking with you gamers. You need to find that sweet spot to pull off some nice tricks and if you go into a grind to slow, be prepared to wipe out. As they stated, “slide longer and have it steezy!”
Do not be distracted by scoring gamers. This is a simulator where you are going around skating the scene and be free. It is more about perfecting your landings and perform the sickest tricks possible.
Get it on Tape and Brag!
This is my personal favorite of this game and that is the editing and replay feature where you can make your own skating video with many different angles even the wipeouts for your own personal collection to share. What I feel many games are lacking in is the replay feature which only a select few has done right. Session will feature an extended video editor where you can make montages and share it to your favorite social media. However, I will take that footage and enhance it further with personal music and maybe some effects, but that is a nice gateway for future video editors.
Also, another feature that you will enjoy having is the customization feature which seems to go in-depth for those that like to take their time and either make a new character or base it on themselves.
I am quite impressed that they finished their goal in four days being that it just started and it seems like it won’t take much to make. There will be online multiplayer to enjoy and a filmer mode which a second player can follow their friend while they skate which also opens up those directors out there. This game seems like a nice gateway for certain gamers like myself. Reminds me of a time when I first did video editing for a friend of mine trying to start his skate career.
“It also lets the player record movies easily while following their friends and find the best angles without feeling overwhelmed. It’s designed to help the player feel like a professional cameraman, with presets such as auto-follow, auto target, optimal angles and much more.”
They really giving a second player the whole tutorial on being a filmmaker with this feature and I dig it.
There are 23 days left on the Kickstarter so that is plenty of time to join in and be a backer, just head on over to their Kickstarter page by clicking here. Also, check out the demo for yourself when you go to the site, but keep in mind it is only available on the PC right now.
