Good evening gamers and welcome to a news update which I will let you decide if it is good or bad because I am just in the middle. Today EA announces there “evolution” as their company grows which is the same business speech most places do to put a nice comfortable pillow for a huge blow in some cases. We are the consumer and it is nice when companies give us a heads up of changes within their company. This time it is a shut down of Visceral Studios who you may know them of such games as Dead Space, Battlefield Hardline, Dante’s Inferno, and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel just to name a few. Here we are and it is quite devasting.
As I have gotten older and wiser, mostly just older…and maybe lazier…I have been stuck in this belief that as things get sequels and reboots and the like that the quality just suffers as a result. It’s like instead of getting that pure orange juice that you first tasted, you get a watered down rehash and they continue whittling away at the original till you get something worse than Tang.
When Disney acquired Star Wars back in 2012 it didn’t take them long to make significant changes to the beloved franchise. One of the most significant changes that Disney announced was that the Expanded Universe as we knew it was no longer canon. Instead, Disney wanted to build their own Expanded Universe around the films. This would allow them to take the story in their new films in different directions than the established timeline in the EU. The downside to this is that many of the fan favorite EU characters and story-lines are no longer official. The Star Wars canon established in the EU spanned thousands of years, and revolved around a lot more than Jedis. There are great stories about bounty hunters, or about criminal gang wars. After the reboot, Disney seems to be focusing only on the war between Jedi and the Sith, but other story-lines might start to surface later. The good thing about this reboot is that Disney and Lucasarts have established their own story department that is responsible for developing the timeline. This means that everything Disney releases under the Star Wars brand after April 2014 will be official and canon.

Honestly, whoever thought that this was a good idea or even thought Batman had a chance in the first place has strong hopes. I am still laughing at the fact that Superman was captured in the first place, but the first time I heard Super Powered Beat Downs working on a Batman vs. Darth Vader project. I just went, “Huh?” because it is a no contest fight, but since the battles are based on fan votes I was a bit worried. However this battle was pretty darn decent, but it should of ended a lot sooner *laughs*.
