Need for Speed: Payback Enter the Speedcross DLC

All right race fans, this beast is quite intrigued by the new DLC information that was just dropped and I have to admit that I am still enjoying the regular story mission in Need for Speed Payback (Review here). They just announced the Speedcross DLC that will feature some nice new add-ons.

This latest DLC will focus on Mac since he is our king of drift and off-road racing. I can get behind this since his personality shines throughout the game, but this also makes me wonder will each character have their own DLC catered to them? I personally favor Jess since she is the muscle of the group with her runner class missions. However, let’s see what we will get under the hood.

“Speedcross is an event that focuses on scoring as many points as you can through a pre-determined course. Go big, and go fast as you score points in each of the following areas; Drift Zones, Jumps, Speedtraps and Smackables.”

There will be a few new cars added to the arsenal of the Speedcross pack.

  • the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman
  • Infinite Q60
  • Nissan 350Z
  • Ford Focus RS
  • Dodge Charger

Also added to the pack will be new performance parts for BMW M.

BMW M4 GTS

  • Front Fender
  • Side Skirts
  • Wing Mirrors

BMW M5

  • Front Canards
  • Front Bumper
  • Spoiler
  • Diffuser
  • Rear Bumper
  • Sideskirts
  • Front Fender
  • Grille
  • Wing Mirrors

BMW X6M

  • Sideskirts
  • Front Fenders
  • Wing Mirrors
  • Grille
  • Rear Bumper
  • Front Bumper

BMW M2

  • Front Canards
  • Front Bumper
  • Spoiler
  • Diffuser
  • Rear Bumper
  • Exhaust
  • Sideskirts
  • Front Fenders
  • Grille

Speedlists – Drift Run

Oh snap, this reminds me of the drift events that happened in Need For Speed Underground series. Up to 8 players can battle it out in drift run events which are the same that you experienced in the single-player campaign. Now, those that are in front during the drift event will be granted multiplayer to gain extra points which will give a good challenge to those racing. This also will probably open up to some players that will drive dirty, so be cautious out there and watch out for those inside overtakes while drifting. Trying to corner properly and you should be golden.

All and all there will be 10 different drift runs cycling through both day and night. That is freaking sweet!

Steering Wheel Support

“Since we revealed NFS Payback there’s been one question that’s been rumbling on amongst our community, will Need for Speed Payback support steering wheels? The short answer to this is that yes, steering wheel support is on the way.”

All right Ghost Games, I see what you are doing and I like it. The developers have teamed up with Logitech to have the full support of these steering wheels.

So, for those that bought the Deluxe edition of Need for Speed Payback it will be available automatically, but for those of you that did not, you can purchase it separately as an add-on. I found it funny how they stated that for those who bought the Deluxe edition will get it for “Free”, no sir I bought it hence why you sold the deluxe edition. Those little pieces of wording are funny at times. All this glory will be available on December 19th, 2017 so get in gear racers!

In that being said, check out my stream of Need for Speed Payback on Twitch to see if you would like to add this to your collection and if so head on over to Amazon.com to pick up your copy today. (Yes we are affiliated and it helps out the site.) All right race fans thank you for checking out this latest update and I shall see you in Fortune Valley. – Beast Out
