What is going on readers? I don’t know about you but New York used to have many arcades and gaming chill spots. You meet with friends, pay for a few hours, get snacks and enjoy either PC’s and consoles together. They were gaming cafes which were awesome, but we have not had any in a while. However, there has been some pop-up spots and one of them currently in Brooklyn is the New York Excelsior’s NYXL Lan cafe. Let’s check it out.

Yes, it is a click-bait title, but at least I respect you gamers in admitting to said click-bait title, which honestly not really click-bait when you think about it. Anyway Special Shoutout to Mike’s Monster Gaming and my cousin Mr. Trickster who inspired this post idea. These two are Nintendo enthusiast and have been for the longest time. I saw my cousin play Snowboard Kids a while ago and recently on Mike’s channel I saw him playing and realized that this needs a resurrection.

You know, I am starting to appreciate those select few fans that don’t want our wallets to burn and gives us access to free games that some of us already owned or trying to show others what games used to be like. Thanks to Goldeneyesource.net for giving fans an opportunity to try out a cleaner updated graphics version of the Nintendo 64 classic Goldeneye’s multiplayer.

A long time ago in a distant land known as East NY Brooklyn, there lived a young gamer who was gifted with a Sega Genesis bundle on that special day in December. It was a magical time graduating from 8 bit to 16 bit made this young gamer cheer for joy. From Altered Beast to Sonic the Hedgehog, it seems this gamer’s life will forever be bright. The balance of our gaming world was vast with Cool spot, Mortal Kombat, Battletoads and Bugsy…yes even Bugsy was welcomed for a time, but it was the balance that was memorable. However we fast forward to 2014 and now this young gamer became a Gaming Man who has to have multiple consoles to fill in that lost void. Companies like Naughty Dog grew up and turned their manimals into full on humans. The days of jumping, dip and dodging are limited to the Nintendo, unless you go into the classic marketplaces to download old titles. Why must it be left to Nintendo to keep childhoods intact with such titles like Splatoon, Pokemon and now Sonic Boom. The titles have been great, but when needing a change of pace, one should not have to switch systems.

Whats up good people and happy Sunday. Last night was the monthly Sexy Nerd party which was held at The Parlour on 86th and Broadway. This was a lovely venue in a nice area with decent amount of space to get your gaming, geek and nerd on. As some of you know the events are hosted by Video Games New York where you can obtain all your video game needs current and past. Kuma was on the scene hired as security to make sure things stayed groovy which wasn’t a problem at all. I am sorry you missed all the fun, but I have a video showing off what went down.

A Little Introduction

Hello KumaKreations readers and fellow gamers!

Iselynne here! As the newest member of the KumaKreations team I wanted to write down a few words to introduce myself and the work I will be doing for the site. That way you will get to know me a bit, and hopefully I will get to know you as well as the site grows.

Moi!

I am a born and bred Norwegian viking but am currently residing in London, UK. This will allow me to access and cover some events and cons that the rest of the team are currently unable to. That’s right: KumeKreations is going international! So far the UK branch consists of… well, me. But who knows what the future holds for us?

As you might have guessed from my introduction, I am a gamer. My first console was the Nintendo 64, which some of you might argue makes me a ‘late bloomer’ in gaming. I won’t disagree; in fact I am a bit jealous of those of you who played the classics on the old NES or even Atari. However, simply having a console does not make one a passionate gamer. Sure, me and my brother would play Mario and Banjo-Kazooie for hours on end to the point where my dad would ‘ban’ the Nintendo for weeks, but it was more a hobby than an actual passion. Then one game came along one Christmas Eve that changed my life forever. That game was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. With that game Nintendo introduced me to a whole new dimension in gaming that I never knew existed. The freedom to explore a world at my own time and pace, building relationships with characters, uncovering lore about a new and magical world. Not to mention emerging at the end as the very hero of time! There was no going back. I was hooked. I guess you could say that OoT introduced me to the reality that gaming could be more than just timing jumps and collecting stars (sorry Mario!). I have been exploring new worlds ever since.

The man that changed my life!

Throughout the years I have played a wide variety of games on a range of different consoles. My rule is usually that as long as a game has a setting and/or story that interests me, I will play it regardless of genre. This leaves me pretty much neutral in the so called ‘Console War’ and makes it hard to point to a specific genre as my faviourite. If I was forced to choose I would probably end up with either RPG’s or Action Adventure games. I also have an affinity for survival horror games as the original Resident Evil was one of the games I played in my early gaming career. In fact, I blame that game for developing my love for zombie fiction in general. Most of the reviews I do for the site will probably be based around those genres, but don’t be surprised to see me play something completely different as well!

Most of the work for the site will be based around games and the gaming industry. My upcoming projects for this month is reviews of the upcoming games Tales of Hearts R (PS Vita) and Dragon Age: Inquisition (PS4), as well as an article about the first year of the PS4 vs Xbox One generation. I hope you look forward to it!
